Critical Environment Technician

As a Critical Environment Technician (CET) in Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will maintain the critical infrastructure that keeps Microsoft Datacenters up and running. This includes coordinating with suppliers and vendors, recognizing safe versus unsafe work environments, understanding critical environment equipment, performing maintenance, responding to onsite incidents, and using telemetry and other platforms to monitor equipment performance and operations.

This role works on a 13 week shift pattern, including both 8 and 12 hour shifts. Appropriate allowances are provided for this.

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation is the engine that powers cloud services. As a CO+I Critical Environment Technician, you will help deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an operations specialist in one major area of critical environment operations such as electrical, mechanical, controls, or generators and work on advanced tasks independently.
• Inspect and supervise critical environment-related facility equipment such as controls, HVAC and mechanical systems, buildings, and grounds for unsafe or abnormal conditions.
• Use internal computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track equipment assets and complete work order requests.
• Respond safely and quickly to onsite incidents and coordinate with other critical facilities professionals on corrective repairs.
• Develop, enhance, or follow emergency operating procedures, methods of procedure, and standard operating procedures.
• Perform planned, predictive, and corrective maintenance and repairs on equipment such as electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment, systems, subsystems, and components independently within the trained discipline.
• Consult lower-level colleagues in troubleshooting systems and problems.
• Follow and ensure safety and security requirements and business processes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent and 1+ year mission-critical services work or applied learning experience in environments such as data centers, high availability manufacturing, critical infrastructure, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related fields.
• Equivalent experience may be accepted.
• Ability to work shifts, including non-standard business hours such as evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent and 3+ years mission-critical services experience.
• Associate's Degree or technical trade certification, or higher-equivalent education, and 3+ years mission-critical services experience.
• Equivalent experience may be accepted.

Compensation and Benefits

Critical Environment Ops ATR-B: the typical base pay range across Austria is EUR 42,400.00 - EUR 56,200.00 per year. Critical Environment Ops ATR-C: the typical base pay range across Austria is EUR 50,100.00 - EUR 69,700.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
