Data Scientist (Supply Chain focus)

In this position, you'll be a senior contributor and project leader within our Strategic Supply Chain Optimisation stream. You'll combine strong analytical and technical skills with the ability to frame ambiguous problems, guide cross-functional teams, and drive stakeholder alignment at senior levels. You'll understand how supply chains operate and how data-driven insights can influence long-term strategy.

Your areas of knowledge and expertise

that matter most for this role:

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Science. Previous experience working on Data Science topics in Operations / Supply Chain is a plus.
  • Programming: proficient in at least one of R, Python, SQL with the ability and willingness to learn the other two.
  • Data Literacy: ability to prepare datasets ensuring top quality such that essence of said data and the implications for the problem at hand can be grasped quickly.
  • Technical Literacy: applied understanding of modern computing allows the candidate to do things which go beyond the strict definition of Data Science (git, API calls, web crawling, …).
  • Statistical Reasoning: applied understanding of Stats and Probability and know how to use these tools to reduce uncertainty in a business context (regression, visualisation).
  • Project Management: able to navigate evolving requirements, prioritise effectively, and scope work in a way that balances impact, effort, and stakeholder needs.
  • Presentation Skills: present coherent data stories at the appropriate level of abstraction given the audience.
  • Stakeholder Management: skilled at building mutually beneficial connections with functional stakeholders.
  • Pragmatic Critical Thinking: intuitively consider relevant costs/benefits in all decisions and act accordingly.
  • Outcome Driven: highly motivated to add value and to demonstrate that impact to the organisation.
  • Scientific Reasoning/ Scoping: ability to define and formulate new questions, in addition to answering given ones.
  • Grit: proven capability to see things through to the end even if initial feedback is discouraging.
  • Travel 0-10%

Due to legal reasons, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary according to the collective agreement for this position, which is EUR 2,911 gross per month. However, our attractive compensation package is based on market-oriented salaries and is therefore significantly above the stated minimum salary. Eine Dose Energydrink hat Red Bull groß gemacht. Geblieben ist es dabei längst nicht. Vom Salzburger Fuschl am See aus verkauft die Firma ihre Getränke in 178 Länder und betreibt nebenher einen eigenen Medienkonzern und mehrere Spitzensport-Mannschaften. Gegründet 1984, arbeiten heute fast 22.000 Menschen für das Unternehmen.

Angefangen hat alles mit Dietrich Mateschitz und dem thailändischen Unternehmer Chaleo Yoovidhya, die 1984 die Firma gründeten und einen Drink auf den Markt brachten, für den es in Europa bis dahin kaum eine Kategorie gab. 1987 kam die erste Dose in Österreich in den Handel. Daraus ist ein Konzern geworden, der 2025 nach Branchenberichten rund 13,97 Milliarden Dosen absetzte und gut 12 Milliarden Euro umsetzte. Geführt wird er von Alexander Kirchmayr, Oliver Mintzlaff und Franz Watzlawick. Sitz ist und bleibt Fuschl am See.

Das Getränk ist nur ein Teil des Ganzen. Über das Red Bull Media House produziert die Firma Filme, Magazine, Fotostrecken und Live-Übertragungen von Sportevents. Dazu kommen eigene Mannschaften. Der Formel-1-Rennstall Red Bull Racing fährt um Weltmeistertitel, der Fußballklub RB Leipzig spielt in der Bundesliga, die Eishockeyprofis von EC Red Bull Salzburg gehören zu den Topteams der Liga. So entstehen Jobs, die mit dem Verkauf von Limonade wenig zu tun haben: im Marketing, in der Medienproduktion, im Profisport.

Die Bandbreite zeigt sich an den Berufen. Field-Sales-Teams sind unterwegs und betreuen Handel und Gastronomie, das Marketing entwickelt Kampagnen und stellt Veranstaltungen auf die Beine, beim Media House sitzen Redakteurinnen, Kameraleute und Cutter an den Inhalten. Wer international arbeiten will, findet hier reichlich Anknüpfungspunkte, denn verkauft wird auf fast allen Märkten der Welt.

Das Geschäft wächst seit Jahren. 2025 stieg die Belegschaft um rund 2.000 auf 21.924 Mitarbeitende. Wie viele davon in Österreich beschäftigt sind, weist das Unternehmen nicht gesondert aus. Der Hauptsitz steht weiterhin am Ufer des Fuschlsees, dort, wo vor vierzig Jahren die erste Dose verkauft wurde.
