OTA Test and Automation Engineer

Are you passionate about ensuring the reliability and quality of next-generation automotive software? We are seeking a dedicated OTA Test and Automation Engineer to drive the validation strategy for our Remote Update (OTA) systems. In this pivotal role, you will lead the testing lifecycle, architect automation frameworks, and ensure the seamless delivery of software updates to in-car components and Electronic Control Units (ECUs), including infotainment systems.

Your Role & Responsibilities
As the OTA Test and Automation Engineer, you will:

• Lead OTA Test Management: Define and execute the comprehensive test strategy for Remote Software Updates. You will manage test scope, schedule validation cycles, and coordinate end-to-end testing across various vehicle variants and ECU configurations to ensure zero-failure deployment.
• Drive Test Automation Strategy: Conceptualize, build, and maintain robust test automation frameworks for OTA. Your goal is to maximize test coverage and efficiency by transitioning manual test cases into automated scripts (CI/CD integration) for both HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) and SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) environments.
• Deep-Dive Issue Analysis: Act as the primary point of contact for defect triage. You will analyze complex failure logs, identify root causes of update interruptions or failures, and work closely with development teams to resolve critical software bugs before release.
• Quality Reporting & Visualization: Establish transparent reporting standards. You will track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), generate detailed test reports, and present the current maturity and stability status of OTA features to management and stakeholders.
• Requirements Analysis & Test Design: Review system requirements and technical specifications to design detailed test plans. You will ensure that all customer requirements, from user experience to functional stability, are mapped to verifiable test cases.
• Security & Compliance Verification: execute validation plans that ensure all OTA features meet strict cybersecurity standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., UN R156), ensuring the integrity of the update process.
• Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify bottlenecks in the testing process and implement new tools or methodologies to accelerate the validation cycle without compromising quality.
• Manage Test Infrastructure & Fleet: Coordinate the allocation and maintenance of physical test resources. You will be responsible for managing test vehicles, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) benches, and reference setups, ensuring they are correctly configured, updated, and available for scheduled validation campaigns.

Technical Expertise & Testing:

• Automotive Software Validation: Strong background in testing automotive software within Android, Linux, and QNX environments. Experience with IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) or Gateway testing is highly desirable.
• OTA & Diagnostics Mastery: Deep understanding of the Software Update (OTA) process, including technical logic, rollout policies, and rollback scenarios. Proficient in validating diagnostic update features and requirements.
• Communication Protocols: Expert knowledge of vehicle bus systems (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet) and protocols (UDS, DoIP, SOME/IP). Ability to analyze traces and debug communication issues during update cycles.
• End-to-End Architecture: Familiarity with the complete Onboard-Offboard communication chain, encompassing Backend, TCU (Telematics), and target ECUs.
• Security Verification: Experience verifying cybersecurity mechanisms (e.g., SecOC, TLS, digital signatures) within the software update context to ensure compliance and safety.

Automation & Infrastructure:

• Test Automation Frameworks: Proven experience in designing and implementing test automation frameworks (e.g., using Python, Robot Framework, or CAPL). Ability to convert manual OTA test cases into automated scripts.
• Infrastructure Management: Hands-on experience managing and maintaining test infrastructure, including HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) benches, test vehicles, and flashing tools.
• CI/CD Integration: Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) to enable continuous testing and reporting.

Analysis & Management:

• Root Cause Analysis: Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on defect triage. Ability to analyze complex logs (system logs, bus traces) to pinpoint the root cause of update failures.
• Risk & Issue Management: Strong sensitivity to technical risks with the ability to manage the defect lifecycle (Jira/Confluence) and drive issues to resolution across cross-functional teams.
• Language Skills: Fluent in English and Chinese to ensure clear, efficient technical communication with development teams, backend engineers, and stakeholders worldwide.
