Your personal sphere of influence:

The Organic Synthesis Group of Prof. Maulide in the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Vienna is currently seeking a PhD student with research experience in organic chemistry and natural product synthesis for 4 years temporary employment relationship.

The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching and administration, which means:

• Studies on the stereoselective preparation of organic compounds, with special emphasis on the development of new synthetic reactions and reaction sequences, including amination reactions, electrophilic amide activation, cyclization reactions, peptide synthesis and oxidative rearrangements.
• You finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
• You work on your dissertation and its completion.
• You teach within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
• You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration and have experience in academic writing.
• IT user skills: Microsoft Office and ChemOffice.
• You communicate in English, written and spoken.

This is part of your personality:

• Completed Master's degree or Diploma in Chemistry with profound knowledge and practical experience in Organic Synthesis.
• Ability to work independently in organic synthesis, including working under inert atmosphere.
• Experience with the chemistry of organic amines and their synthesis.
• Experience with stereoselective synthesis of aminated amides through sigmatropic rearrangements and electrophilic amide activation.
• Experience with Pictet-Spengler reactions and related cyclizations.
• Extensive experience with spectroscopic methods such as NMR, HRMS, IR and UV/vis.
