We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our Network operations and delivery team. This team is responsible for the operation and implementation of innovative network solutions for DXC’s federal government and State government accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Network Operations – Daily network operational support within the scope of the managed support services contract. Perform daily tasks to maintain network operability within SLAs, working within DXC ITIL framework for incident, change and problem management.

  • Network project delivery – involvement in planning and rollout of network projects working closely with DXC project managers and other stakeholders.

  • Act as a trusted technical authority and actively contribute to the planning and execution of implementations ensuring successful outcomes.

  • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing by mentoring junior engineers and providing support during incidents, promoting growth and capability development.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management. Ensure both Internal and external stakeholders are provided necessary information about project status, issues, risks and change requests.

  • Will involve some after-hours work for scheduled activities or in some cases to assist with critical incidents which may arise.

  • Participate in network on-call rosters as required.

  • Work onsite at customers premises at least 3 days a week within a hybrid work model.

Essential Skills and Experience

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in network operations, with a focus on Aruba and Fortinet technologies.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Aruba CX platform and use of Aruba Central (on Prem preferred) management platform.

  • Excellent working knowledge and experience with Aruba WiFi, Mobility Master and ClearPass

  • Proficient in Fortigate Firewalls, SD-WAN, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer vendor management platforms.

  • Expertise in routing and switching protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, MLAG, STP, etc..

  • Familiarity with industry-standard ITIL practices and platforms such as ServiceNow.

  • Working knowledge and experience with DNS/DHCP/IPAM management

  • Familiarity or exposure to Azure or cloud networking, Linux, Visio

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Previous network operations experience within a federal government arena.

  • Previous network design skills would be favourably looked upon.

Problem Solving

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex network challenges.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.

Teamwork

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education/Certifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or Engineering highly desirable

  • Relevant Aruba and Fortinet Industry Certifications

  • Other relevant vendor certifications

Other Must Haves

  • The role is based in Canberra.

  • Australian citizenship is mandatory. The applicant must hold at least a Baseline security clearance and be eligible to obtain NV1 clearance.

Ihre Arbeit sieht man selten, man merkt sie erst, wenn etwas fehlt: Sie halten jene IT-Systeme in Gang, auf denen Banken, Versicherer und Industriebetriebe ihr Tagesgeschäft abwickeln. Die österreichische Gesellschaft ist seit 1993 im Firmenbuch eingetragen und gehört zu einem Konzern mit mehr als 115.000 Beschäftigten in über 70 Ländern.

Was das konkret bedeutet, zeigt ein typischer Auftrag. Ein Versicherer will seine Bestandsverwaltung erneuern, ohne dass der Betrieb auch nur einen Tag stillsteht. DXC bringt dafür eigene Branchensoftware mit, Assure für Versicherer etwa oder Hogan für Banken, und Teams, die solche Umstellungen schon mehrfach hinter sich gebracht haben. Daneben betreibt der Konzern Rechenzentren und Cloud-Umgebungen für seine Kunden, entwickelt Anwendungen und sichert sie gegen Angriffe ab. Solche Verträge laufen lange. Im Schnitt bleiben Kunden über zehn Jahre, und die Firmengeschichte reicht mehr als sechs Jahrzehnte zurück, vom Großrechner über die Cloud bis zu den KI-Projekten der letzten Jahre.

Der Wiener Standort liegt seit Herbst 2025 an der Wienerbergstraße im zehnten Bezirk. Zur Größe kursieren leicht unterschiedliche Angaben: Die Wirtschaftskammer führt 250 Beschäftigte, die Wirtschaftsdatenbank top1000.at weist für 2024 rund 300 Mitarbeitende und 48 Millionen Euro Umsatz aus (firmen.wko.at und top1000.at, abgerufen am 08.08.2026). Eigene Zahlen veröffentlicht die österreichische Gesellschaft nicht. Sie gehört zu hundert Prozent einer britischen Konzerngesellschaft, geführt wird sie aus Wien.

Interessant für Bewerberinnen und Bewerber ist, worauf sie im Konzern zugreifen können. Im SAP-Umfeld arbeiten weltweit etwa 15.000 Fachleute, sie betreuen rund 17.000 SAP-Installationen für 850 Kunden in mehr als 60 Ländern. Bei ServiceNow sind es über 1.800 Beraterinnen und Berater und mehr als 7.200 abgeschlossene Einführungen, aufgebaut in einer Partnerschaft, die seit über 17 Jahren besteht. Für generative KI gibt es ein eigenes Kompetenzzentrum mit mehr als 100 zertifizierten Engineers. Wer sich in eine dieser Plattformen einarbeitet, findet also reichlich Vorarbeit.

Die Rollen in Wien fallen entsprechend verschieden aus. Beratung heißt hier vor allem zuhören: verstehen, wie eine Fachabteilung tatsächlich arbeitet, und das anschließend im System abbilden. Im Betrieb zählt etwas anderes, nämlich Verlässlichkeit rund um die Uhr, denn ein Kernbankensystem darf auch nachts nicht stehen. Architektinnen entwerfen daneben die Zielbilder, Projektleiter bringen sie durch die Umsetzung, und am Standort selbst sitzen auch Vertrieb und Verwaltung. Ausgeschrieben wird ausschließlich über das eigene Karriereportal und über LinkedIn; auf andere Kanäle, sagt das Unternehmen ausdrücklich, sollte man sich nicht verlassen.
