The Institute of Materials Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry is currently seeking a Senior Scientist limited for two years specialised in complex fluids. In addition to research and teaching activities, the successful candidate will head the core facility “Interface Characterisation”. Your future position will be in the Polymer & Composite Engineering (PaCE) group, characterised by excellent research in polymers and composite materials as well as in applied research in the area of complex fluids.
The position is initially limited to 2 years, with the possibility of permanent employment by mutual agreement pending financial availability and following a positive evaluation.
Your future tasks:
Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You will head the Core Facility of Interface Characterisation and perform materials analyses independently.
- You build up an independent research profile in the field of Complex Fluids.
- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of polymers in solution.
- You publish internationally and give lectures.
- You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You supervise students at all levels.
- You undertake administrative tasks in research and teaching.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed doctoral/PhD studies in Chemistry or related field
- Excellent knowledge and experience in the area of materials characterisation and their surfaces/interfaces (iGC, XPS, Tensiometer, Goniometer, BET, DSC/TGA – IR, zeta-potential, DVS, particle sizing, foam analysis, GPC, rheology, light scattering) is required
- Research competence and initiative proven through international publications in peer-relevant media
- Experience in research management and in leading project staff
- Didactic skills/experience in e-learning
- IT skills and excellent Origin skills
- Knowledge of polymer chemistry/materials is a significant advantage
- Fluid in written and oral German and English
- Team player and high social/communicative skills
- Expertise in the use of polymer processing equipment as well as knowledge of composite manufacturing processes is desired
