Who we are:
EBG MedAustron is a cancer treatment and research centre in Wiener Neustadt that is unique in Austria. MedAustron uses ion therapy, an innovative form of radiation therapy, in the fight against cancer.
We offer a unique working environment built around the particle accelerator used for therapy and research with protons and carbon ions. We have set ourselves the goal of prolonging the lives of cancer patients and improving their quality of life.
Our Medical Physics team is responsible for acceptance, medical commissioning and quality assurance (QA) of all medical devices related to ion beam therapy. We use state-of-the-art robotic systems and novel imaging procedures here.
As a Medical Physicist with focus on treatment planning, you play an important role in treatment for our patients. With your expertise in proton and carbon ion treatment planning, you will design and optimize treatment plans for cancer patients, contribute to commissioning and QA activities for treatment planning systems, establish clinical planning guidelines, and enhance treatment planning workflows. By enabling safe, accurate and individualized particle therapy treatments, you will make a meaningful difference in the lives of cancer patients.

- Treatment planning with protons and carbon ions
- General participation:
- Specification, acceptance, commissioning and QA
activities of the medical software systems with focus on
the TPS - Establishment of treatment planning guidelines for new
indications treated at MedAustron - Improve workflow efficiency in treatment planning for
protons and carbon ions. - Participation in administration and maintenance of TPS
hardware and software including generation and
validation of scripts used in combination with the TPS in
patient routine for protons and carbon ions.
Skills that make you our strength:
- Academic studies (Masters degree or PhD) in Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering or similar
- Ideally 1 or more years of clinical experience in Medical Physics, especially Treatment Planning
- Experience in particle therapy would be an advantage
- A Medical Physics certification is advantageous
- Willingness to work in shifts
- Very good English skills and at least basic German knowledge
- Hands-on mentality, flexibility and team spirit
- Good presentation and communication skills in an interdisciplinary and intercultural environment
For legal reasons, we are obliged to point out that the minimum salary for this position is € 67,644.42 gross anually (on a full-time basis). Remuneration is based on a salary scale that takes into account professional experience and qualifications.
