The University of Vienna is seeking a University Assistant postdoctoral at the Faculty of Psychology, Institute for Clinical and Health Psychology, in the new Professorship of Psychotherapy and Psychotherapy Research.

Your place of work

The research group investigates processes and effectiveness of psychotherapy and therapeutic interventions. Key research areas include evidence-based psychotherapy, digitalization such as AI in psychotherapy, and the use of psychological and neuroscientific methods in psychotherapy research.

Your future tasks

Active participation in research, teaching and administration.

  • You strengthen the research profile in the field of psychotherapy research.

  • You give presentations at national and international scientific conferences.
  • You participate in science communication activities.
  • You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.
  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the collective bargaining agreement.

This is part of your personality

  • Completed doctoral or PhD studies in psychology or other related fields.
  • Experience in research projects on human-AI interaction, preferably in a therapeutic context.
  • In-depth knowledge of AI, LLM and Conversational AI such as voicebots, chatbots, AI avatars, AI videos and AI voices.
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced statistical methods, such as multilevel modeling.
  • Proven research competence and initiative through international publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Knowledge of relevant AI software.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Leadership skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Diligent, independent work methods.
  • Strong sense of responsibility.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and German skills at C1 level.

Desirable qualifications are:

  • Experience with and interest in innovative study designs for investigating the potential benefits of artificial intelligence in psychotherapy.
  • Knowledge of programming languages is a plus.
  • Psychotherapy training, whether currently in progress or completed, is a plus.
  • Work experience with clinical or mentally distressed populations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of psychophysiology is a plus.
