The following position will be filled at the Department of Society, Knowledge and Politics at the Faculty of Social Sciences with an anticipated starting date of April 1, 2027:

Assistant Professor (postdoc) with QA option (tenure track) at the intersection of science and technology studies and migration research (all genders welcome)

Level of employment: 100 % (40 hours/week)

Minimum salary: EUR 70,200.20 per annum gross; classification according to collective agreement: B1 lit.b

Limited to: 6 years, with the option of transitioning to a permanent contract

Your responsibilities

• Independent research
• Independent teaching using established and innovative methods, including digital teaching
• Supervision of students
• Participation in organisational and administrative tasks and in quality assurance measures
• Contribution to expanding the international scientific and cultural contacts of the organisational unit

Your profile

• Completed doctoral studies in a relevant subject area, such as science and technology studies or sociology, completed with good results at a domestic or foreign university
• Experience in the acquisition and running of highly competitive third-party funded projects of a significant volume
• Strong publication record at the intersection of science and technology studies and migration research
• International research experience and strong international network
• Profound knowledge on the intersections of science and technology studies, critical migration/border studies, and social movements scholarship
• Excellent scientific communication and dissemination skills
• Didactic competence and proven successful teaching experience
• Excellent spoken and written English

• This tenure track position includes the option of negotiating a qualification agreement in accordance with Section 27 of the collective agreement for university staff. The employment contract stipulates a starting salary of EUR 5,014.30 gross per month, paid 14 times a year. Upon entering into the qualification agreement, the position is classified as an Assistant Professorship with a minimum gross salary of EUR 5,904 per month. Upon fulfilling the stipulations of the qualification agreement, the post-holder is promoted to tenured Associate Professor with a minimum gross salary of EUR 6,389.50 per month.
