Technical Assistant position (m/f/d)

The Medical University of Vienna is looking for a Technical Assistant at Max Perutz Labs / Max Perutz Labs 2, expected to begin on December 1, 2026. This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week, fixed-term until November 30, 2027, with an option to extend.

Your Tasks

• Operation and monitoring of the sorters and analytical machines.
• Practical guidance and instructions to students and post-docs on flow cytometers.
• Implementation of user training sessions.
• Assistance in maintaining FACS equipment.
• Thorough documentation of procedures and communication of results to users.
• Contribution to laboratory organization and management, including ordering, reagent preparation and equipment functionality.

Your Profile

• Relevant high school diploma, e.g. HTL Rosensteingasse, or equivalent qualification, e.g. a bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related fields with significant laboratory experience.
• Experience in flow cytometry.
• Knowledge of acquisition and data analysis software is a plus.
• Solid understanding of basic biology and strong technical interest in instrumentation.
• Strong communication skills and very good spoken and written English.
• Proactive and self-organized workstyle.
• High accuracy and reliability.

Salary and Benefits

The minimum monthly salary under Uni-KV, employment group IIIb, is currently Euro 1,565 gross, paid 14 times per year, on the advertised part-time basis. Relevant previous experience and other job-related salary components may increase this amount.
