Zwei Kilometer von Vaduz, zwischen österreichischen und Schweizer Alpen, liegt Triesen. Hier sitzt die Swarovski International Distribution AG. Sie wickelt den internationalen Handel des Kristallherstellers ab: Schmuck und Kristallfiguren gehen von Liechtenstein aus an rund 2.200 Boutiquen und an Handelspartner in mehr als 140 Ländern.
Die Gesellschaft gehört zum Swarovski Crystal Business, und das ist ein großes Haus. Rund 18.300 Menschen arbeiten weltweit dafür, der Umsatz lag 2025 bei knapp 1,97 Milliarden Euro, gewachsen ist zuletzt jede Region. Zusammen mit den Schwesterfirmen Swarovski Optik und Tyrolit bildet der Kristallbereich die Swarovski Gruppe, die sich bis heute im Besitz von etwa zweihundert Familienmitgliedern befindet (Unternehmensangaben, März 2026).
1895 fing das an. Daniel Swarovski, Glasschleifer aus Nordböhmen, hatte einen mechanischen Schleifapparat entwickelt und suchte dafür einen Ort mit Wasserkraft. Gefunden hat er ihn in Wattens in Tirol, wo eine stillgelegte Lodenfabrik samt Kraftanlage stand. Dort wird bis heute geschliffen. 2025 wurde die Marke 130 Jahre alt.
In Triesen steht ein Distributionszentrum, das den Warenfluss weitgehend automatisch abwickelt. Über 100.000 Tablare fasst das Kleinteilelager, das Karussellsystem schafft 600 Ein- und Auslagerungen pro Stunde, dazu kommen Pickroboter und Kommissionierung per Lichtsignal. Modeschmuck läuft hier durch, ebenso Sammelfiguren fürs Regal daheim.
Die Belegschaft am Standort ist bunt zusammengesetzt; Swarovski holt Leute aus vielen Ländern nach Liechtenstein, und zu den Kunden und Partnern zählen nach Unternehmensangaben bekannte Namen aus Mode, Schmuck und Technologie. Für Triesen nennt das Unternehmen eine private Unfallversicherung, einen Pensionsplan und flexibel geregelte Arbeitszeiten. In der Kantine zahlt man nur einen Teil. Und einen Tag im Jahr darf man für Freiwilligenarbeit freinehmen.
Was das für Berufe heißt, ergibt sich aus dem Geschäft. Warenströme wollen disponiert und Lieferungen an Handelspartner rund um den Globus terminiert werden, im Lager halten Logistiker und Techniker die Anlagen am Laufen, dazu kommen Kundenbetreuung, Einkauf und Finanzfunktionen. Wie viele Menschen genau in Triesen arbeiten, weist das Unternehmen nicht gesondert aus. Seit 2011 läuft der internationale Vertrieb über diese Gesellschaft.
