At Quantum Technology Laboratories GmbH (qtlabs), we are developing next-generation quantum communication technologies for space and terrestrial applications. Our work combines quantum optics, cryptography, and advanced engineering to create practical systems for secure communication in the quantum era.
Based in Vienna, our team brings together experts in quantum key distribution (QKD), optical communication, system engineering, and security-critical technologies. We are now looking for an Expert for secure implementation of QKD Systems to strengthen our expertise in the secure implementation, validation, and certification readiness of QKD devices and networks.

We are looking for a hands-on Electrical & Automation Technician who enjoys taking a project from an electrical schematic to a fully assembled and working control panel.
You will design, build, wire and commission compact control cabinets containing power supplies, PCs, a safety PLC and relays. You will also develop and test the PLC programs required to operate these systems.
This is a practical role combining electrical design, panel assembly and automation not a purely desk-based engineering or software development position.
Your responsibilities
You have completed an apprenticeship in electrical engineering, mechatronics or automation, a relevant HTL qualification, or equivalent technical training. A university degree is not required.
We are looking for someone with
Experience with Eplan (Autodesk electrical or similar) and Siemes TIA-Portal would be particularly useful.
What makes this role interesting
You will work across the complete build process rather than being limited to a single task. You will see your designs become physical systems, test your own work and use what you learn to improve the next build.
The focus is on compact, practical control systems and dependable implementation—not on developing large, complex automation software.
The minimum gross salary for this position is € 3.157,47 per month (based on full-time employment) in accordance with the collective agreement. However, there is a willingness to offer a higher salary depending on experience and qualifications.
